Overview:
  • Housing prices appear to be bottoming out and making a modest recovery as of January 2010 ($425,000).
  • Apartment rents appear to be declining slightly over time with an average rent of $1,547 per month in January 2010.
  • The number of building permits continues to decline in Orange County and across the state. North Orange County (Brea, Yorba Linda and Placentia) appears to have the most activity in 2009.
  • Foreclosures appear to be declining with Orange County below the rate and number of foreclosures of other California counties. Santa Ana and Anaheim lead the number of homes that are in foreclosure.

This indicator measures the number of homes that have foreclosed each month by county. Because of different data accumulation methods, this indicator is not directly comparable to the “Total Number of Homes in Some Stage of Foreclosure” indicator.

This indicator measures the number of homes in some stage of foreclosure in Orange County in 2009. A NOD is a “Notice of Default”. A “NOTS” is a “Notice of Trustee Sale.” An REO is “Real Estate Owned” or bank-owned foreclosed property. Because of different data accumulation methods, this indicator is not directly comparable to the “Total Number of Homes Foreclosed” indicator.
