- Housing prices have
been making a sluggish recovery after dropping sharply during
the recession. For January 2013, the median price was $460,000
– just $10,000 less than the previous month.
- Average apartment rents spiked even further for the County in January 2013, reaching
an average of nearly $1,700.
- Total housing permits in Orange County felt large decreases during late 2010
and early 2011. The number of building permits has increased drastically
since April 2011, mainly boosted by the City of Irvine’s activity.
Since July 2011, the number of building permits in Orange County
has fallen back to average 2010 numbers. The second half of 2012
has shown a positive trend in the number of permits allocated
in the County, reaching 581 permits as of December 2012.
